Welcome to The Word Community Church.

Welcome to our new church plant at Gen House called The Word Community Church (TWCC)! If you know our village, and have read our mission, “...to care for orphans, to preserve families, and to develop vulnerable communities through the message of The Gospel”, then you know this is the best way to reach our neighbors in the community. In fact, our village is actually a 35-minute driving distance to churches in Gulu Town in which many of our neighbors do not have cars.

We were pleased to fill the gap in this way, meeting the spiritual needs of our community and trusting God for the outpouring of his Holy Spirit. Headed by preacher and Co-Founder, Ocen, this church serves both the children we will care for from our children’s home, and our already-present neighbors! Since officially launching on March 14, 2021— our first Sunday, we regularly hold Sunday services, mid-week Bible studies, and children’s church. We also have open-air preaching in our village’s marketplace centre, trauma counseling trainings, and walk from home-to-home for door-to-door evangelism.

We are passionate about identifying the spiritual and tangible needs in our village and have already witnessed God meet them through the preaching and teaching of his Word, and care for our community!

Here are three unique ways you can help grow our church:

BUILD THE CHURCH

Help us build a temporary sanctuary for Sunday services, Sunday school for children’s church, mid-week ministry, recreation for children in the village, and weekly trauma-healing groups for youth and adults

BUILD

GIVE TO LOCAL OUTREACH

Giving to our local outreach will support door-to-door evangelism, small church fellowship on Sundays at our neighbor’s home, family meetings for prayer, and sports activities for youth in the community

SUPPORt REFUGEES

The ongoing war in South Sudan has caused natives to flee their country for refuge in Uganda. Of those, are pastors zealous to serve God. Since 2017, Co-Founder Ocen has worked with those in the Palabek Ogili Refugee Settlement, hosting pastor’s trainings to teach fundamental Christian doctrines, implement trauma counseling, and practice apologetics. Support is needed to sustain our consistent presence there, supply food for lunch during sessions, and to provide Luo/Acholi Bibles and other resources for sharpening Bible literacy.
